Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional title, took control to force a final set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
